Firstly, I wish to apologise for taking so bloody long on this first installment of a DA story. I have no excuse except that I got insufferably lazy after I graduated and I recently got a PS2 which for me meant nonstop Final Fantasy 10 and 12.

Okay moving on...

This is the first installment of my DA stories I handing out, this one based on the avatar of said fellow writer Zampano1983 whose character in the story is Vyctor.

More will come in time, as will further stories.

Got that?

Good. Read.

Hey! Sorry it's taken me so long to get around to reading it; I've been very busy doing very little, as usual.

I've said this before probably but you pack an astonishing amount of detail, very imaginatively and comprehensively thought through, into this story-world. So much so that I'm quite envious actually :D

You've led up to what I'm guessing will be the initial catalyst event of the story really well, starting off with a contemplative feel that really gives the sense of the character's moody isolation, giving us the background information without it seeming like an info-dump, and the scene's set perfectly for what will follow.

I'm guessing a "Hakish" is a blood elemental/djinn btw? It's a cool idea!

One small thing: as far as I know, the drug "shazbah" doesn't exist outside of Bas Lag so you might want to rethink its presence in your universe. I hit a bit of a snag recently when I wanted to find a word for "photograph" to use in a story, but realised that I couldn't use "daguerreotype" because Daguerre never existed my story-world, and Mieville'd already used "heliotype" so I was just stuck with "photograph"! Not quite the same I know..

Looking forward to reading the rest! Still a little bit stunned you've managed to get all this out of the few details I sent you as well!
